Nuvu Insurance strengthens Benelux team with Roland Waldmeier as Director CAR & Property

AMSTERDAM, 27 February 2026. Nuvu Insurance has appointed Roland Waldmeier as Director CAR & Property, effective 1 March 2026. With more than 30 years of experience in the insurance market, Nuvu Insurance strengthens its underwriting capabilities in Construction All Risks (CAR) and Property and takes another step in building its activities in the Benelux region.

Roland Waldmeier brings extensive knowledge of both the national and international construction and fire insurance markets. In his new role, he will initially focus on building the construction portfolio, with Nuvu Insurance aiming to act as a capacity provider for commercial construction risks.

“NuVu Insurance offers the opportunity to take a more considered approach to construction risks again,” says Roland. “The combination of entrepreneurship, international capacity and room for customisation makes this a particularly attractive step. I look forward to working with brokers to build a strong and sustainable CAR and Property portfolio.”

Strategic expansion in the Benelux

The appointment of Roland Waldmeier supports Nuvu Insurance’s broader strategy. Nuvu Insurance B.V. was established in the Netherlands at the end of 2025 to develop Nuvu’s activities in the Benelux. It forms part of the same Nuvu business as NuVu Underwriting Iberia S.L. in Spain and NuVu Underwriting Europe Lda. in Portugal. All three operate under the Nuvu brand.

To establish and lead the Benelux activities, Arjan Halma joined as Managing Director at the end of 2025. “With Roland, we are bringing on board someone with in-depth market knowledge and proven experience in complex construction and property risks,” says Arjan Halma. “His arrival is important to our ambition to become a leading capacity provider for commercial construction risks.”

Further growth ambitions

Although the initial focus is on CAR, Nuvu Insurance has the ambition to expand its activities in phases, including Marine, Liability and Property. The Benelux activities are a logical extension of Nuvu’s existing operations in Spain and Portugal, where the business operates through NuVu Underwriting Iberia S.L. and NuVu Underwriting Europe Lda. respectively.

With the appointment of Roland Waldmeier, Nuvu underlines its focus on specialist underwriting and long-term cooperation with brokers.
